Everyone Gains from the Investment in our Children

Research shows that the potential return on public investment in youth in the metro Detroit area is significant. For every $1.00 invested in after-school and public education, society gains $12.19.

After-school activities make a huge difference in the lives of children. Self-esteem and competence soar. The students stay away from drugs; violence plummets; and the students are less likely to become teen parents or to contract a sexually transmitted disease.

Please support the children and youth in metro Detroit by making your tax-deductible contribution today. Together we can make Detroit the best city to raise children.

Note: When making your donation, please list the program area or event you would like your donation to support (e.g. General Activities, After-School Fair, and Pastors Cooking for Kids)

You can also make a contribution/donation by contacting Phil Wells at (313) 963-3660 ext. 250.

City of Detroit, Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick

Remember when it took an entire village to raise a child? Remember when we knew the police officers’ names and called out to them with a smile? Remember when you and your neighbors exchanged pleasantries in the yard while cutting the grass, raking the leaves or trimming the hedges? Remember the great deal of pride that everyone took in saying that they were from Detroit? Read more.
